Hi there, and welcome!

I'm Scott and I'm a volunteer at Casa Guatemala. I'll be using this blog to post updates about my time and experiences there as well as post the general happenings. We always need volunteers and donations so please consider it!

My journey with Casa Guatemala began in 2012, when I initially found the project's website and applied to be a volunteer. In August 2013, I headed to Guatemala the first time to be a volunteer, not sure where the path would lead. After 6 months, I finally left in February 2014.

But I knew that would not be my last time at Casa Guatemala. A year and a half later, I once again came to stay for 6 months, from August 2015 until February 2016.

Though I experienced perhaps the hardest moments in my life during my time at Casa Guatemala, something there resonated with me in a way nothing else ever had. The work we do, the impact we can make, and the cause we support all motivate and inspire me. And, of course, there's the kids - crazy, hyper, creative, ridiculous, and absolutely brilliant, the kids are really what make the experience what it is.

Now, starting in January 2019, I'll have the opportunity to spend more than a year on-site at Casa Guatemala, and I'm excited at what the time will bring.
